Change item order

I noticed that while the Out of Stock are at the bottom when viewing categories, when I use the search bar and search for a term, the Out of Stock items are still mixed with the available items. Is it possible to fix this? I already tried moving the Out of Stock to the bottom of the excel sheet (by using a numbered identifier) so I don’t know why they still appear on top when using the search function. Also is it possible to change the query for the search, because if a customer searches for “Metal Gear” all items with “Metal” and “Gear” appear even though they are not related and it makes the site look messy according to customers. Thank you.

Hi there,

I checked your store - Search result for metal gear | JL Geekerie

Yes out of stock items do come into the search. The order of items in search results is determined by their relevance with respect the searched terms.

I do see that you have cleverly added tags on the side.

I recommend changing the text “In Stock” to “Hide out of stock”. Action words are a bit better. Using words like “Show” and “Hide” will be helpful to your customers.

Let me discuss this with our team, on whether we can do something about the out of stock items.

On showing products that words like like “Metal” and “Gear”, it is expected. However their relevancy is low, which is why they are the bottom of the search.

Will follow up,
